With so many different supplements on the market, it can be difficult to know what products you should really be taking. But fear not! We’ve spoken to leading practitioners about the supplements they use themselves – which surely is the proof you need that they do the job and make a difference.
From the best vitamin C and omega 3 supplements, to discussions about collagen and NAD+, read on to discover what our TTG-recommended practitioners had to say. Oh, and get your shopping list at the ready!
“In today’s high-stress environment, targeted supplementation is no longer a luxury – it’s a form of preventative medicine,” says Dr Nima Mahmoodi, the clinical director at Remedi London, where you can get your hands on bespoke supplement plans. “We regularly test patients and find low-grade deficiencies in key nutrients that are essential for skin repair, hormonal balance, and energy.”
Cosmetic doctor Dr Hayley Elsmore agrees: “As aesthetic practitioners, we are in a great position to guide our patients through the minefield of supplements that are available on the market, and supplementation can play a valuable adjunctive role in supporting skin health, slowing signs of ageing, and enhancing outcomes of in-clinic treatments.”
Not sure where to start?
Here’s what supplements you should consider, according to the experts…
“Vitamin C is one of the first things I recommend — it’s involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions, and plays a key role in collagen production, brightening, and immunity,” says Yasmin Shirazi of Remedi London. “Given how common low-grade inflammation and nutrient depletion are, I believe nearly everyone would benefit from a high-impact, bioavailable Vitamin C.”
“Almost everyone benefits from vitamin C,” agrees Dr Elsmore. “especially individuals with dull skin, hyperpigmentation, or early signs of ageing. It’s a cofactor in collagen synthesis, supporting skin firmness and reducing fine lines; is a strong antioxidant that protects against photoaging; and it brightens skin to help reduce pigmentation.”

TTG RECOMMENDS: Altrient Liposomal Vitamin C, £49 , SHOP NOW
Recommended by: Yasmin Shirazi, Dr Hayley Elsmore, Dr Nima Mahmoodi
Why: Superior bioavailability thanks to liposomal delivery. Ideal for post-treatment skin support and immune resilience.
“We frequently prescribe Altrient as it offers advanced absorption through liposomal delivery,” says Shirazi. “This form is especially helpful post-treatment – such as after our energy-based facials – as it supports both skin recovery and immune resilience.”
Wild Nutrition Vitamin C Plus, £22.50
Recommended by: Dr Preema Vig
Why: Food-grown and gentle on the stomach. Great for daily antioxidant protection and radiant skin support.
“I consistently recommend Wild Nutrition Vitamin C Plus, available through W-Wellness, because it’s incredibly gentle,” says the advanced aesthetic doctor Dr Preema Vig. “It’s excellent for supporting collagen synthesis and radiance from within — which is essential for both aesthetic longevity and overall vitality. Especially for my clients undergoing skin treatments, Vitamin C can significantly enhance healing and results.”
“Many patients in the UK have a low intake of omega 3, so supplementation can make a real difference,” says the cosmetic nurse prescriber Anna Lee. Omega-3 fatty acids – especially EPA and DHA are essential for maintaining healthy skin, as EPA helps to calm inflammation (useful for acne, rosacea and eczema), while DHA supports healthy skin structure, hydration, and brain function. “In my experience, patients also notice improvements in general wellbeing, mood, and hormonal balance.”
“It’s one of the first things I prescribe,” agrees Dr Vig. “So many people are unknowingly deficient.” Dr Mahmoodi affirms: “Surprisingly, even fit and health-conscious patients often show low ‘good’ cholesterol (HDL) and high ‘bad’ cholesterol (LDL). Omega-3s help support cardiovascular function, reduce inflammation, and improve cognitive clarity.”

Recommended by: Dr Hayley Elsmore, the TTG team
Why: High potency, high EPA/DHA concentration per dose, and third-party tested for purity, which is important for avoiding heavy metals. In even better news, it’s pretty affordable too!
Wild Nutrition Pure Strength Omega 3, £29.60
Recommended by: Dr Preema Vig
Why: High purity, sustainable, and rich in EPA/DHA to support skin and hormones.
“For my clients focused on beauty and wellness, Omega-3 is a non-negotiable,” says Dr Vig. “I recommend Wild Nutrition for its high EPA/DHA content and excellent purity. It’s ideal for those looking to enhance skin glow and hormonal balance.”
Recommended by: Anna Lee
Why: Effective formulation and stronger than standard high-street fish oils.
“This is a high-quality omega 3 supplement that provides a strong dose of EPA and DHA – the two key fatty acids your body needs but can’t produce on its own,” says Lee. “ZENii’s formulation is stronger and more effective than most supermarket versions, making it a great option for patients looking to improve skin health, mood, and overall wellbeing.”
“NAD+ is one of the most exciting longevity molecules in modern medicine – it powers mitochondrial function, brain clarity, DNA repair, and cellular detox. However, it declines rapidly with age or stress,” reveals Dr Mahmoodi.
“Patients seeking anti-ageing benefits, those experiencing fatigue, brain fog, or chronic stress can all benefit from Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, aka NAD+, supplementation,” confirms Dr Elsmore. “It is central to cellular energy metabolism, supports DNA repair and sirtuin activation linked to longevity, and may improve skin tone, energy, and overall vitality when combined with aesthetic treatments.”

Recommended by: Basically all the experts: Dr Nima Mahmoodi, Anna Lee, Dr Hayley Elsmore and Dr Steven Land
Why: Not just a precursor — this clinically-backed supplement boosts your body’s own ability to make and recycle NAD⁺. Think: more energy, faster repair, and slower ageing.
“I take and recommend Nuchido TIME+, which doesn’t just supply precursors but actually boosts your body’s ability to make and recycle NAD+ effectively,” says Dr Mahmoodi. “It’s a game-changer for energy, mood, and long-term resilience.”
“If you’re always on the go like I am, this should be your number one supplement,” agrees the founder of the award-winning Novellus Clinic, Dr Steven Land. “Nuchido Time+ is backed with significant evidence that it improves NAD production in the cells, which is where it matters!”

For firmness, hydration and visible rejuvenation
Collagen is a key structural protein in the skin that keeps it firm and plump, but “after 30, collagen declines steeply,” says Dr Vig. “So, daily supplementation can really enhance skin tone, elasticity and hydration.” “I recommend supplementing with high-dose (10,000mg+) hydrolysed marine collagen to keep replenishing your collagen levels,” agrees Lee, especially for patients looking to support skin texture, and firmness.
Plus, “collagen is more than a beauty supplement — it’s critical for joint function and skin structure,” says Yasmin Shirazi. When combined with Vitamin C and zinc, it supports healing, especially after treatments like microneedling or RF facials.

Why: 10,000mg hydrolysed marine collagen, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid work together for visible results.
“I like Zenii Fusion for its superior quality high-strength marine collagen – it contains 10,000mg of hydrolysed collagen,” says Dr Elsmore. “The formula also combines it with other hero ingredients – including vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and essential skin nutrients – which are vital for skin, joints, hair and nails.”
TTG RECOMMENDS: Totally Derma Collagen Drink Supplement, £105, SHOP NOW
Recommended by: Steven Land
Why: High-quality formulation and proven anti-ageing results — ideal for over-30s.
“There are a number of studies that demonstrate that taking a good collagen supplement (greater than 5000mg – preferably combined with a Vitamin C) report softer skin, reduction in fine lines, and increase of overall skin quality,” says Land. “I’d personally recommend Totally Derma, but for anyone with a slightly stricter budget, Ancient & Brave True Collagen is also a steal.”
