What Is Full Face Harmonisation? The Doctor-Trusted Approach For Super Natural Results

5th February 2025
Updated: 8th December 2025

We’ve probably all been guilty of thinking once or twice  – ‘I just really want my lips done’, ‘I need to sort my jowls’, but, don’t forget, the best results come from viewing your face as a whole not as separate features! Luckily, the best practitioners already know that – and few better than Dr Yusra Al-Mukhtar. She has developed a specialised approach – now used by her talented team in-clinic – called Full Face Harmonisation, and it promises really natural-looking transformations.

Alice went to Dr Yusra’s clinic in Liverpool to discover what exactly full face harmonisation is, and, most importantly, how Dr Yusra’s team uses the technique to ensure you always ‘look good, not done’. We’ve also included a video of a patient having the treatment so you can see the benefits for yourself before you book in…

What is Full Face Harmonisation?

“Full Face Harmonisation is more of a concept than a specific treatment,” says Dr Yusra. “The idea comes from ensuring that the patient’s face is holistically balanced and well-proportioned, and it means respecting that no two people are the same, so we’re not individual feature-driven. The end outcome is for patients to look incredible. So they look in the mirror and feel like ‘I still got it’, but without it looking obvious they’ve had something done.”

At the Dr Yusra Clinic, Full Facial Harmonisation is now expertly performed by Dr Emily and Dr Jane. Both are highly skilled aesthetic doctors who combine advanced training in facial anatomy and aesthetics, with a holistic approach to assessing skin, bone structure, and fat distribution.

What inspired Dr Yusra to focus her clinic on FFH?

Dr Yusra has always wanted her team to be experts in making individuals feel transformed without an unnatural finish or immense downtime. That comes from her extensive training in head and neck surgery, but also her own poignant story:

“When I was eight years old, I had quite a bad accident that resulted in a huge cut to my lower face, from my lip down to my chin,” Dr Yusra reveals. “I had to have 42 stitches and I had very prominent scarring. I remember going to school the next day and the other kids were horrified. My teacher said to me, ‘You need to sit at the back of the class because I don’t want to distract the rest of the children’. I also gained the nickname ‘Baby Horror’, which lasted throughout my schooling. It really held me back. So, I understand the relationship between our aesthetic appearance and our self-esteem and I’m so passionate about ensuring that our patients unapologetically access care without stigma.”

The approach behind Full Face Harmonisation

Natural-looking results are the aim of the game with Full Face Harmonisation – which is good news for anyone (and really that’s most of us!) who want to feel great without looking totally different.

“Our motto in clinic is making sure my patients look good but not ‘done’, so they look fresh and not fake,” says Dr Yusra. “It’s all about normalisation. We reject the idea that everybody needs high-taper cheekbones and a taper tiny chin. Our patients are not a walking-talking pair of lips or a walking-talking nose.”

What is a Full Face Harmonisation consultation like?

While people often walk into Dr Yusra’s clinic and say, ‘I don’t like the dark circles under my eyes’ or ‘I don’t like the bump on my nose’, Full Face Harmonisation extends beyond treating a specific feature.

“Dr Emily and Dr Jane listen to a client’s concerns and take photographs, before asking permission to conduct a full face assessment. Some patients don’t want to look at anything else and we have to respect that. But the team also explains to them that good facial aesthetics is in the artistic eye of the person performing the treatment. Any monkey can inject a face, but we are not filling a face like an eclair. A holistic full face assessment ensures that our treatments suit the patient.”

good facial aesthetics is in the artistic eye of the person performing the treatment.

“For example, if a patient with a weak chin that’s creating the illusion of a big nose asks for a non-surgical rhinoplasty, there is a duty of care to inform them that what may be better for them is a chin augmentation. It’s a combination of respect for the person, and also safeguarding their best interests, which means having an ethical and honest approach with our patients.”

Full Face Harmonisation in practice: tried and tested

Carlene came to the Dr Yusra clinic because as she turned 40, she felt her face, especially around her cheeks, was beginning to ‘drop’, her eyes were becoming more hollow, and she felt she looked ‘tired’.

The solution, based on Full Face Harmonisation, involved placing a small amount of filler in several areas of Carline’s face, rather than focusing solely on one.  This included:

  • along the cheekbone and into the base of the cheek to restore volume.
  • along the tear trough to reduce the hollowing and brighten up the eye area.
  • in the nose-to-mouth lines to soften the deep folds and the marionette lines to soften the downward curve of the lips

The technique also improved and balanced Carline’s profile by placing filler:

  • at the point of the chin
  • into an indentation that highlighted hanging jowls

“By placing filler here, we will give her a more defined jawline,” explains Dr Yusra. “We will soften the crease underneath her chin, and we will also elevate the tip of her nose to give her a point of highlight and reduce the slight bump. We will also place a little bit of filler into her lips to feminise them and improve their proportion.”

The result

Watch the video above to see the fantastic result that Carline achieved, with her face looking more sculpted, lifted, and balanced even straight after treatment. Her face is a little swollen, with the swelling in her lips the most obvious, but this would quickly settle down to a very natural result.

For the treatment, a total of 9ml of filler was used – specifically Restylane Volyme in the mid-face and Restylane Refyne for areas that needed lift and for softening and blurring transitions. However,  as you can see, it is all very subtly done.

How much is Full Face Harmonisation?

It depends!

“Often I’ll have patients message me and say how much is Full Face Harmonisation, but that will differ from patient to patient because it depends on what they need,” explains Dr Yusra. “One patient may benefit from a mild cheek augmentation, while another may benefit from a chin augmentation or a nose augmentation.”
