Why Body Contouring Experts Swear By This Quick Tweak For Stubborn Fat

What is Cristal Pro?

Cristal Pro is the latest form of cryolipolysis – aka fat freezing; a form of body sculpting treatment focusing on fat reduction.

But what even is cryolipolysis?

“Cryolipolysis is controlled temperature reduction, which creates crystallisation of the fat cells [this is called apoptosis, a form of programmed cell death]” explains Dr Galyna. “That means the fat cells die – they are no longer fat cells, just the debris of the fat cell. Then over the next three months, your body has an inbuilt mechanism [your lymphatic system] to clear the debris of that fat out.”

It provides significant fat reduction

“Cristal Pro is probably by far the most advanced cryolipolysis machine on the market, and I want to call it the safest as well,” reveals Dr Galyna. “No amount of exercise, healthy lifestyle, or salad can spot-reduce your fat, but a single Cristal Pro procedure can reduce 20 to 25% of the existing subcutaneous fat in the area treated. It represents a big difference aesthetically.” 

… and it works pretty fast

“The procedure usually takes about half an hour to an hour, and even with multiple areas you can be done in two hours,” explains Dr Galyna. “Depending on the patient, some people might get away with a single treatment too,” although this depends on the initial volume of subcutaneous fat you have. Higher quantities can require two or three sessions.

The body sculpting results can be pretty rapid as well. “Two, three, four weeks – that’s when the amount of fat you can pinch gets less, so the patient actually can see it starting to work,” reveals Dr Galyna. “For the full results, it takes around three months, and sometimes patients report up to six months of continuous reduction of subcutaneous fat.”

There’s a range of applicators 

Cryolipolysis is best for localised spots of fat, rather than global reduction, “because the fat will only be reduced from the area that we treat with the applicator,” explains Dr Galyna. But to help you effectively tackle all your niggling fat pockets, Cristal Pro uses a variety of clever applicators to avoid the indentations or lumpiness that were more common from early cryolipolysis devices (although of course you still need to see a skilled practitioner who understands the device properly). 

In fact, it has “probably the most shapes and various sizes of applicators I’ve ever seen with a device before, and I’ve worked with a few,” says Dr Galyna. “With Cristal Pro, the shape is so varied that there pretty much isn’t an area that I can’t treat.”

That means it’s very versatile

“We’re able to treat pretty much any area in the body,” reaffirms Dr Galyna. “The most commonly asked for areas are for stubborn fat, so the abdomen is probably the most requested, as well as love handles, saddlebags, and calves.”

It’s also great for the ‘hormonal belt’. “A lot of women, when it comes to a certain age and they are perimenopausal, they start to store fat around the abdomen and the flanks, whether they want it or not,” says Dr Galyna. “Cristal Pro allows me to use a holistic approach to treat this broader area.”

It works where general weight loss doesn’t

Nothing can touch diet and exercise when it comes to living a healthy life, but when you want to get rid of stubborn fat pockets, general weight loss isn’t always the answer. “Some women do not need to lose weight: they have a healthy lifestyle and a healthy diet,” says Dr Galyna. “It’s not that they want to look skinny, it’s about being more sculpted. You might also carry a little bit more fat in one area or another, and weight loss will not always answer that. Unfortunately, after the age of 35, weight loss is also a danger zone. Because when you are losing weight, you might feel better but the face is going to take the brunt of it.”

There’s hardly any downtime too

Despite blitzing away fat cells, Cristal Pro is completely non-invasive, as the applicators only come in contact with your skin’s surface. “It’s a comfortable treatment and you do not need any time to recover so you can get on with your normal activities immediately after,” says Dr Galyna. “All the pain [of traditional cryolipolysis] is gone, especially with the large, shallow applicator. Patients report very little pain, very little swelling, and very little numbing sensation. So it’s a very safe treatment that does not require much from the patient.”

You can combine it with other treatments

“I love combining Cristal Pro, especially with muscle toning treatments or skin tightening treatments,” concludes Dr Galyna. For the abdomen, I like adding on a radiofrequency treatment to tone the skin straight away. For muscle tone, I use Cristal Fit, which gives brilliant results for the legs and front of the buttocks, and for saddlebags, what I usually do is combine my Cristal Pro with Cellution [a Deleo cellulite technology], and it gives great results.
