If you’re interested, make sure you have a thorough consultation that takes into account your overall lifestyle and wherever you might be on a weight-loss journey – because proper patient selection is absolutely key to getting results (i.e. are you right for the treatment) – and get an idea of how much you can expect to pay below.

What influences the cost of fat freezing?

As with any tweakment, several factors affect the price. For fat freezing, these will be:

• Which area(s) you want treated – Fat freezing (also known as cryolipolysis) can be done on various parts of the body and on the submental (double chin) area on the face. The bigger the area, the more you can expect to pay. For example, a course of fat freezing on the stomach or back will cost more than the upper arms, and the upper arms will cost more than a double chin.
• How many sessions you have – It is possible to see a reduction in fat from just one treatment if you don’t have much to begin with (the leading brand claims that up to 27% of the treated fat cells will be killed and dispersed), but most people will need at least two sessions to get a decent result. Most clinics charge per session, but some will discount individual sessions if you buy a course.
• Which device is used – There isn’t much competition when it comes to fat-freezing devices – Allergan’s CoolSculpting is really the only machine you’ll come across in a good clinic. Treatments aren’t cheap, but the brand is tried and trusted. • If you’ll need additional sessions – Once fat cells are frozen, they die off and are dispersed from the body, so they’re gone for good and won’t come back. But if you put weight back on in the treated area, you’ll be growing new fat cells, so it’s important to keep up a healthy diet and exercise regime if you want the results of your fat-freezing treatment to last. If you don’t, you might be looking at spending out on one or two more sessions later down the line.
• Location – Those of us in the capital will always pay a premium on just about anything, tweakments included. If you live somewhere where the cost of living is generally lower, the price of tweakments is likely to be lower, too.

Taking all of this into account, the main variable with fat freezing is which area you want to treat. Expect to pay from around £500 for the double chin and from around £800 for the stomach, per session.
